"I didn't know...all my days would be making decisions towards achieving balance between longevity and quality of my life."

•I didn’t know….when I assured my children in 2009 that breast cancer ‘Is Not The Death Sentence It Once Was’, that it was a lie.
•I didn’t know….30% of those diagnosed with early stage breast cancer are confronted months or years later with a Stage IV recurrence because ‘rogue’ cells travelled (Metastasized) and set up shop in the bones, lungs, liver or brain.
•I didn’t know….thorough, aggressive treatment added no additional protection.
•I didn’t know…..diligent dedication to follow up appointments and adhering to a daily regiment of hormone therapy, would fail to prevent or detect these random cells on the move.
•I didn’t know….about METASTATIC Breast Cancer.

[tr-shareit ]I didn’t know….when I assured my children in 2009 that breast cancer ‘Is Not The Death Sentence It Once Was’, that it was a lie.[/tr-shareit] •I didn’t know….MBC could be part of a Survivor’s story and ‘Fighting Like a Girl’ and doing or not doing something sufficiently enough has ZERO influence on whether one experiences or escapes a Stage IV Metastatic diagnosis.
•I didn’t know….Cancer ALWAYS ‘Picked the Wrong Bitch.’ Some simply got lucky.
•I didn’t know….Five years to the week after my first conversations with my children, I’d be having a life changing moment and trying to explain the inexplicable and incomprehensible reality of This Time.
•I didn’t know….at 51 my life span was dramatically reduced and continual treatments will be required to live.
•I didn’t know…..all my days would be making decisions towards achieving balance between longevity and quality of my life.
•I didn’t know….despite everything done in the past and anything undertaken in the future…Breast Cancer will end my life.
•I didn’t know…for me, and the estimated 155,000 women and men living with Metastatic Stage IV Breast Cancer, there will be no Victorious Pink Ribbon Finish Line. The END of our cancer experience comes with our DEATH.

*I didn’t know….still, there is NO CURE.
I Know Now…..It’s About Time you knew too.
