"I use every breath I have to enjoy my life, my husband and my kids and to spread awareness about MBC."

In 2014, I was contentedly living with the fact that after two years of treatment and reconstruction, I was free of the Stage II disease that had ravaged my right breast.

A sharp pain in my sternum one sunny afternoon brought that feeling to a screeching halt. A bone scan and subsequent biopsy revealed that I had HER2 +/Er-/PR- MBC to my sternum. luckily there were no other mets but the damage was already done. I have had six months of chemo, 12 rounds of radiation and am now on a lifetime maintenance infusion. I am currently NED which I am thrilled about, but I know I will never be without medication or fear.

I have always been a positive person who chooses to see the sun rather than the clouds. The same is true, even now. I use every breath I have to enjoy my life, my husband and my kids and to spread awareness about MBC. It is shocking to me when people ask me if I’m cured. We need education and funding desperately. We can treat this disease and all of us could live a very long life. I pray every day for that kind of reality!
