“We can do better for our loved ones and cancer patients everywhere”.

2021 Story

In 2020, my warrior husband, Jerry Kester, was diagnosed with Small Cell Lung Cancer. Jerry was treated with a dual combination of chemo with Tecentriq and 30 rounds of radiation. A short six months later, he returned to work with no sign of the disease. Jerry had Tecentriq every three weeks and in early April he was diagnosed with metastasis to the brain - we were so blessed to catch it early. Jerry has had two craniotomies to remove the initial tumor and hemorrhage as well as five rounds of brain radiation.

My husband is doing amazing for all he has been through, however cancer treatment is so expensive and we have been so blessed to have his employer insurance pay for all of his treatment. But now that he is no longer working, we are paying to keep my husband alive. While my husband is a warrior and a fighter, he worries about losing his insurance. No one should deal with cancer, its treatment, and the worry of losing insurance coverage. Why in the United States is cancer treatment still so expensive that patients have to worry about not only living, but bankruptcy and some couples have to divorce just to qualify for medical coverage. We can do better for our loved ones and cancer patients everywhere.
