I’m thankful we caught it early again.
I was diagnosed with melanoma in 2015. It started on my nostril and looked like a blood blister so I just ignored it thinking it would go away. My mom and dad got concerned about it and made me go to a dermatologist (I was 53 at the time and my mom and dad had to make me go. Pitiful isn’t it). Anyway, they did a biopsy and it came back as malignant melanoma. After making an appointment with a cancer doctor and several tests and scans, the test showed it had spread to the lymph node under my right ear. After extensive surgery and skin grafts, I didn’t have to do any kind of treatment. Praise God. Well in March of 2020, the lymph node in my neck swelled up and I went to my medical doctor and was diagnosed as having strep throat and an inner ear infection. I took antibiotics and ear drops for 30 days with no change to my lymph node. I made an appointment to see my cancer doctor just having a gut feeling of cancer again. I was right, it was back. Again, I went through extensive surgery to remove my lymph node and more skin grafting. This time around I’m doing chemotherapy for a year with constant bloodwork and scans. I also had surgery to put a port in my neck. I’m thankful we caught it early again as it caused swelling in my lymph node.
